Siuslaw Play Day
Siuslaw Vision celebrated community in October and November 2018 with the first events in our Siuslaw Play Day series.
Our first Play Day, October 13, featured three different parks and recreation opportunities in Florence: Yoga for Vitality, Pickleball, and Games in the Park.
Siuslaw Play Day 1.2, on November 29, offered upriver residents a family-friendly evening of recreation games and seasonal activities. Held in the Lions Club Gym in Mapleton, kids and adults decorated gingerbread cookies, took selfies with Santa, and played board games together. A Pickleball clinic was held at the Mapleton Play Shed before the event.
At both events, the Vision asked everyone to fill out a short survey to gather community input on what programs and facilities are desired for parks and recreation services in the Siuslaw region. Kids had the opportunity to participate through an art contest drawing their dream of the ideal park or recreational activity. The artwork was entered in a drawing for prizes. See the entries here!
