Spring updates from Friends of the Library
Spring is upon us and the Friends of the Siuslaw Public Library are clearing out the cobwebs and planting the seeds for another successful year of fundraising to benefit the Siuslaw Public Library.
First, a couple of business matters. At the January meeting, newly elected board members were seated. They are:
- President-Susan Kallina
- Vice President-Mel Ricks
- Treasurer-Jeron Ricks
- Secretary-Rebecca Dyer
- Past President-Annie Schmidt
Many thanks to Annie Schmidt for her leadership in 2025. Her strength of will and dedication to the Friends’ mission is exemplary.
Our annual February book sale was another success. Our February and Labor Day book sales are always crowd pleasers. And, last December we added a 1-day Boutique Book Sale which featured specialty books in giftable condition and included gift wrapping services for the holidays.
For 2026, the Friends are planning several book sale opportunities throughout the year. To learn about these sales, check for announcements in the local media. Or, you can contact us at siuslawlibraryfriends@gmail.com. Book sales, along with other sources of funding all go to help the Friends support the Library fulfill their mission. In the past 10 years these activities have allowed the Friends to donate $155,000 to the Library. We are so happy to be a part of the library’s future and we look forward to participating in it.
If you would like to join us in our mission, please contact us at siuslawlibraryfriends@gmail.com or fill out a membership form to be found at the Friends’ room at the library, near the back door. There are many volunteer opportunities and we look forward to meeting you.
