Mapleton Community School’s Upriver Farmers Market Includes Family Fun and Community Building Along with Fresh Local Produce and Artisanal Products

Updated 08/10/26 – MAPLETON, OR — The Upriver Farmers Market at Mapleton Community School is more than a place to shop for fresh, locally grown food, delicious baked goods, and hand-made artisanal products. It is a place for families, neighbors, students, and community members to gather, connect, learn, and enjoy an afternoon together.

The 2026 Upriver Farmers Market takes place every other Friday from 2 p.m. to 6 p.m. between Friday, August 14th and Friday, September 25, at Mapleton High School, 10868 E Mapleton Rd, Mapleton, OR 97453. Admission is free and open to the public.

Families are invited to make an afternoon of their market visit, with children’s activities taking place throughout the market – including face painting, chalk drawing, and a market scavenger hunt. At 4:30 p.m., children and families can gather for a special librarian-led storytime followed by music and hands-on craft activities. The story and activities offer a chance for children to slow down, use their imaginations, and create together while families connect with others in the community.

Along with family activities, visitors can shop for fresh fruits and vegetables, baked goods, crafts, jewelry, and other locally produced items from area vendors. The market also provides an opportunity to learn about community resources, meet local producers, and support neighbors and small businesses.

The Upriver Farmers Market is supported by Mapleton Community School’s Garden Project-Based Learning (PBL) program, which gives students hands-on opportunities to connect classroom learning with real-world experiences. Through the school garden and market, students explore agriculture, environmental stewardship, nutrition, entrepreneurship, and community engagement while developing leadership and career-ready skills.

The market is also proud to accept SNAP/EBT benefits, helping make healthy, locally grown food more accessible to members of the community.

Whether you come to pick up fresh produce, visit with neighbors, participate in a children’s activity, listen to a story, make a craft, or simply spend time together, the Upriver Farmers Market offers something for everyone.
