Scotch Broom Removal Volunteer Event – This Saturday, April 5 at Heceta Dunes

Oregon Dunes Restoration Collaborative is sponsoring a Scotch broom removal event at Heceta Dunes this Saturday, April 5 from 10 a.m. to noon. Volunteers are needed to continue our efforts to remove invasive Scotch broom from one of our “Protect the Best” sites. This is a family event, children and grandchildren are invited to attend and help!
Wear sturdy, closed-toe shoes for hiking on the sand and bring work gloves, water, and snacks. Please bring shovels, hand saws, or loppers if you have them. If you don’t, ODRC will have a limited supply of tools you can borrow. Dress for the weather, bring rain gear if showers are predicted. If a storm is predicted, we may cancel. Check our Facebook page, Save Oregon Dunes, the morning of the event if the weather is questionable.
Directions: Take Highway 101 north of Florence and turn left on Heceta Beach Rd., turn right on 4th Ave. and go to the end, turn right on Joshua Lane and go to the end. Please do not block driveways or mailboxes.
